URAMESHIYA!!
Haha, did I surprise you? I sure hope I did, considering I stated to have quit NSMBW hacking roughly ten months ago. And indeed, I did, but recently I began to pick up on NSMBW hacking again and I had a folder with concepts for this lying around for quite a while and eventually, I got around to starting to work on it. And this time, not alone. My good friend OrangeDude has volunteered to help me out with this which I am very, very grateful for. But enough talking about why this is, let's tackle what this is.

~Features~
- 22 levels spanned over three sort-of unique worlds -
- A few new tilesets and retextures for an enhanced feeling -
- Plenty new music suiting the eerie atmosphere -
- And an even more obscure storyline than the original Newer Apocalypse -

~Screenshots~

These screenshots only show a small part of this game. As such, please expect more to come as this game progresses.

Yes, you read that right. Unfinished. I lost motivation and wanted to finally cast this project aside, but at the same time, I didn't want to disappoint those who did look forward to this hack for whatever reason. I decided to pack my game development folder into a ZIP file and publish that. It's for the best anyway. In case anybody wants to assemble this into a proper Riivolution pack, go ahead. Though, unless you're fixing bugs, please refrain from changing anything.

Ahaha, thank you for the welcome back.

There will be a shitton of Touhou-related content in this one because I'm not creative enough to be original. Free raspberries for the one who can guess the two characters in the logo, hehehe.

Regardless, the plot of NA2 and even it's name are partly inspired by "Koishi Komeiji's Heart-Throbbing Adventure", a fanmade Touhou horror series infamous for it's terrible art style in the earlier episodes. The series has been translated to English and is available on Youtube, so go check it out if you're interested. A fair amount of knowledge of the Touhou universe is good to have though. However, the six final episodes aren't out yet to my knowledge.

Looks good! I'd suggest positioning the midway flag a bit to the left or right in the 4th screenshot, as it is now floating in the air. Otherwise, great to see you back with (another) nice project.

Mm, compiling the source code, huh?

I wonder if Ninji put up the original Star Coin menu code back up... The one that relies on the Message.arc crashes the game on Wii, I think.

I've heard that megazig's branch not only has the fire fixed but also should work correctly, so I got that one instead of Treeki's. Then again, I haven't tested it myself since...I don't really know what to do with all those CPP files and YAMLs and whatnot. I'll see if I can figure out how to compile it myself and if not, which will most likely be the case, I'll ask someone. I've heard that mario50 or whatever his name is has managed to compile it successfully.

Sure, it'll compile, but opening the Star Coin menu will crash on the Wii unless it's the old version of the code.

Is it like the star coin menu in the final version of newer, or is it a different one?

Well fuck. I wonder if Treeki will ever get around to actually fixing that source code. What's the point in making it public if it doesn't even work correctly?

...but you did get it to work for Newer Falling Leaf, did you not? Would you mind sharing it, if you have a "clean" version preferrably with working fire actor spawner settings?

I WOULD share it, but unfortunately I only had it saved on a Linux installation that is long since gone :/

EDIT: I've asked Treeki and this new branch -> https://github.com/Treeki/NewerSMBW/tree/no-translations should be fully working now; does not include any of the bmg code.

I'll plop a few more screenshots in here soon. Perhaps I can test another batch of levels next weekend, so expect another two screenshots or so later. I've also been fiddling with the source code a bit because there are a few things I'd like to try out, although I haven't compiled it yet. I can only work on this when I have the time and the motivation. I don't want to push myself and force myself to do this, or else it'll turn into complete shit. After all, this is a hobby and I'd like to keep it as such. Though I'd like this to be done by no later than halloween, hehe.
