I need help editing the hold the Wii remote sideways screen in NewerSMBW (I want to change the background color and the text* that appears on the bottom (where the version number is))

*I can't find the text in the .bmg file.

(I know that the word "Newer" in the topic name is missing the "r", the whole word didn't fit)

Open controllerInformation.arc or extensionControllerYokomochi.arc in NewerSMBW/Others/ that may contain the BG of the WiiMote hold the wiimote sideways BG (I think).

To change the Text you have to hex-edit it.
To edit the Colors of the BG, you have to extract the BRLYT File, convert it to XMLYT using Benzin and
search for the corresponding Lines. Then convert it back.

Or you can search for the BG Texture file then extract it then edit the image with a Paint editor like RealWorld Paint then replace the texture then save and play.

The BMG has the text file i think (or the Messages.bin file in /NewerRes?).

There's no BG Texture. The RGB Values are stored inside the BRLYT in controllerInformation.arc

Wrong. The Message is inside controllerInformation.arc. Hex-edit it.

So probably the message is in the BRLYT of the arc file.

I opened ControllerInformation.arc in a hex editior, it isn't in there (I used the find feature).

Try looking into the Messages.bin file in /NewerRes. If it's not there then look into to the DLCode files. Or look into the BMG file in the newer.

It's DEFINATELY not in Newer's Message.bin. I'm 1000% sure about that, because that File contains the Message Box Messages.
Same goes for the BMG. That one contains the regular, NSMBW Text with some Newer related Changes, however not the Wiimote Screen Text.

Also I wasn't quite sure whether the Text is in the BRLYT or the ARC. Someone told me it is in the ARC. I don't remember who it was.

It's in Message.arc, wii_mj2d.bmg, ID 26632.

Edit: I understood it wrong.

So you're saying, look into controllerInformation_07.brlyt at offset 0x0000110 then find the:

N.E.W.E.R. .S.u.p.e.r. .M.a.r.i.o. .B.r.o.s... .W.i.i...V.e.r.s.i.o.n. .1...1.0...w.w.w...n.e.w.e.r.t.e.a.m...c.o.m. . . . .
.w.w.w...r.v.l.u.t.i.o.n...n.e.t

lines via a hex editor then edit them, then test them in Newer, Right?

Yes. Make sure to add the dots in between each character.

Is putting shorter Messages (than the original) possible or impossible?

Yeah, it should be possible, you just have to fill in the extra space with the dots.

It's DEFINATELY not in Newer's Message.bin. I'm 1000% sure about that, because that File contains the Message Box Messages.

So Python you are very Wro-ho-ong!
It's actually In the BRLYT Like MalStar1000 says.

He isn't wrong. He said it was either in the BRLYT or the ARC file (and the BRLYT is in the ARC).
