I need help editing the hold the Wii remote sideways screen in NewerSMBW (I want to change the background color and the text* that appears on the bottom (where the version number is))
*I can't find the text in the .bmg file.
(I know that the word "Newer" in the topic name is missing the "r", the whole word didn't fit) _________________________

Open controllerInformation.arc or extensionControllerYokomochi.arc in NewerSMBW/Others/ that may contain the BG of the WiiMote hold the wiimote sideways BG (I think).
Running through the parking lot, I chased you and I wouldn't stop.

To change the Text you have to hex-edit it.
To edit the Colors of the BG, you have to extract the BRLYT File, convert it to XMLYT using Benzin and
search for the corresponding Lines. Then convert it back.
Home-Made Destiny Generator. Click the question marks to unveil your destiny, hit the right mouse button to save your destiny. Status:I wonder...am I the only one with actual mood avatars?

Or you can search for the BG Texture file then extract it then edit the image with a Paint editor like RealWorld Paint then replace the texture then save and play.

There's no BG Texture. The RGB Values are stored inside the BRLYT in controllerInformation.arc
The BMG has the text file i think (or the Messages.bin file in /NewerRes?).
Wrong. The Message is inside controllerInformation.arc. Hex-edit it.

It's DEFINATELY not in Newer's Message.bin. I'm 1000% sure about that, because that File contains the Message Box Messages.
Same goes for the BMG. That one contains the regular, NSMBW Text with some Newer related Changes, however not the Wiimote Screen Text.
Also I wasn't quite sure whether the Text is in the BRLYT or the ARC. Someone told me it is in the ARC. I don't remember who it was.

So Python you are very Wro-ho-ong!
It's actually In the BRLYT Like MalStar1000 says.

He isn't wrong. He said it was either in the BRLYT or the ARC file (and the BRLYT is in the ARC).
