You like Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii but your friends can't enjoy it because they don't speak English ?
Join the Newer Translation Team !
We are working on making Newer available for everyone in their mother language, so that anybody can enjoy the game !
Any of our translations will be added to the Official Release for Newer once Version 1.2 will be released, and we're supported in that effort by Treeki himself.
We're working altogether on Google Drive, anyone can see our progress here. There are also change logs specific to each language here.
The following translations are complete (Google Drive Chart) : Italian, French, German, Dutch, Japanese

BREAKING NEWS: The Source was translated in French, however we have some trouble trying to run the stuff on my Wii... If anyone knows how to help, please tell Kinnay.
If you want to join in, send a private message to Wolfy76700, BFDIdubita or lukulus with your GMail address. If you don't have any GMail address, just create a Google Account and send the e-mail address you used to create this account instead. Yet, if you are a native speaker of one language or another and you see mistakes, report to the respective translators for this language.

We also thank RoadrunnerWMC for providing us with software to edit Newer's Level Names, Messages and Credits as well as with BRFNT-editing software (Though it cannot save yet), Chadderz for the CTools Pack and John Telstra for the Exception Handler editing method. We are now looking for some Beta Testers who can actually take screenshots of Newer to show our progress and see if everything goes fine or to "Translate" the screens in the Newer Website. Finally, we are also looking for people with some Python knowledge to fix Unicode support for the Level Names editor.

FIRST POST : Does anyone want to translate the in-game text in various languages (Japanese, French, Italian, Spanish, German, Dutch, Korean, Chinese...) so that this hack can be available to everyone in the world without restrictions ? I'd like to translate it in French, although I don't know how to edit the "Newer" files; however if you give me the RAW text, I can translate it in a jiffy, then you can re-use it in "Newer" itself. Please answer me ! :-)

 it is hard to do , you can edit the menu text and some things , but there are images that contain text which are hard to change.

It's not as easy as just translating it, and it needs translated properly, not with Google translate. New lines (/n) need added to the files manually, so it will take much trial and error to do those edits.

I can give you the complete french translation of the Newer Levelnames, but I'm not sure if the french one could fit with the english one, because most of words are .... added together, if you want, like "Springwater Swamp", I am not sure if this really could be translatable in french.

I think that, as "Newer" is based on "Super Mario World", we could see how the level names were translated in order to have some kind of basis... Even though it won't give us the translation itself, it will provide us a model.
EDIT : I've begun a chart with different translations for "Newer"'s Level Names (The main ones). The French column is my work. It may not be the exact translation, still it's an adaptation, made for children ("Pluipluie" is something that makes my little brother laugh, for example) made in the Nintendo localization spirit. Please tell me what you think about it and what I should add/edit/etc.

I'm part of the "Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii" Translation Team (German translation).
I also know Java very well (that's a programming language, if you don't know).

Well I appreciate that you're all in for this, and I'm sure that we could make great things together. By the way, BFDIdubita, I think you're right : some file that everyone could help completing would be great ! If you know some website that does this sort of things, I'm in ! I'll look to your file tomorrow to see what you've done. As for the French (and Chinese) translations I've done, I know they're far from perfection. I think that, as we are many French speakers, we should all speak together about the names we make up for the "localization". I've heard that "New Super Mario Bros. U" also uses level names, however the game is available in many languages. This may be a good start to make a Nintendo-like work, something worthy of "Newer". We will also need someone to put the text back in the game eventually. Finally I hope you're as excited as I am about all that ! Let's do this ! (PS : Some names like "Palais Bloc Jaune" were taken from "Super Mario Advance 2" if anyone asks)

Well the NSMBU level names will provide us a model, we don't need them the way they are (As there is no Acorns Way in"Newer") :-) I think there are some on http://mariowiki.com on the NSMVU level pages

We better be focusing on the languages in which the game or the Wii is avaiilable : French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. I'm also OK for making up something in other languages, however if we get to reintroduce the text into the game, they will have to be in seperate patches (I don't even know yet if we'll be able to reintroduce all the European languages in the same patch)
