Reggie Next
Current Version: Milestone 2 Alpha 3 (August 5th, 2014)

Official GitHub repo: https://github.com/RoadrunnerWMC/Reggie-Next
Official development forums: http://reggienext.nsmbwii.com/

Reggie Next is moving toward the release of Milestone 2 (which may end up being 1.0). The third official alpha - Milestone 2 Alpha 3 - is now released. It's more stable than any previous Reggie Next release. Below is the feature list for Public Beta 1:

Reggie Next Unifies All Reggie! Mods
Reggie Next unifies all the best features from independent Reggie! mods such as ReggieMod, Reggie Level Editor - Newer Sprites, and NeweReggie itself. You'll never need to switch from one version of Reggie to another. That's one of my biggest goals for this project.

Reggie Next Supports Plugins
Yes, you read that right. I've added limited plugin support to Reggie - at some point in the future there may even be a Reggie! Plugin Depot alongside the NSMBW Depot. Currently, there are three types of plugins supported:

Themes
Themes alter the look and feel of the editor. In addition to the Classic theme and the ReggieMod Dark theme, Reggie Next also comes with three new themes. You can also make your own using XMLs.

Translations
Reggie Next Public Beta 1 doesn't come with any translations other than English, but it has full support for them. If you make a translation for Reggie Next, let me know and I'll include it with all future builds. If you do make one, though, keep in mind that translation plugins require some continued maintenence - as I keep on adding features, you'll need to add more and more text in order to translate them.

Game Patches
If you ask me what I think the best new feature in Reggie Next is, I would pick Game Patches. Reggie Next Public Beta 1 comes with 3 game patches for you to try, and it's not hard to make your own.
Simply put, Game Patches are plugins that reconfigure Reggie on the spot to match whatever game hack you're working on. Just click "Another Super Mario Bros. Wii", for example, and the music options, background options, sprite images and level names are all changed immediately to match Another's configuration. Click on "New Super Mario Bros. Wii" to switch back to retail Reggie! settings. The power of this feature is that you can make your own game patches for your own hacks! It simplifies the entire level design process.

Let me clarify something: Reggie Next Public Beta 1 does not come with a Newer game patch. It's not that creating a Newer game patch is not feasible; it's simply that it will take a long time to create the necessary sprite images and format the sprite data. Future releases will come with more game patches, including Newer. If you're interested, I've compiled an incomplete Newer game patch; you can find more information about that here.

Reggie Next Is Customizable
Among other things, you'll now find a Preferences option under the File menu. You can use it to switch themes, customize the toolbar and change other settings. I plan to add even more options to this window in future releases.

Reggie Next Has a Ribbon
There's an optional ribbon in Reggie Next! I know that many people dislike ribbons, so it's disabled by default. You can activate it via the Preferences menu. It supports all keyboard shortcuts, and includes a main menu button.

And Countless Other Improvements
I've lost count of how many minor improvements I've made to Reggie Next. One minor benefit of using Reggie Next over other Reggie forks is that Reggie Next was compiled with NSMBLib, a program written by Treeki that allows Reggie to load levels in a split second. This feature is not included with ReggieMod, Reggie Level Editor - Newer Sprites, or any other Reggie fork (other than joietyfull64's German Reggie, which does include it). Here's some of my favorite minor features:
Reggie Next displays detailed information about the current selection:

Reggie Next lets you pick from many preset zone sizes:

Reggie Next's completely redesigned tileset dialog includes categorization and searching:

Reggie Next darkens Full Darkness zones:

Reggie Next correctly renders looped paths:

You did an amazing job there, congrats, now go and take your break, you'll need it, just like Treeki and the other guys.

Wow! Looks both cool and useful. I'll download it as soon as I've access to my modding files.

Some questions: How about the new sprite images? Do you update every time Kamek adds another sprite image?

New Video: Mario & the Glow Blocks Revisited
NSMBW Test: Fun with Size Hacks
Boo Circle
(Boo Buddies) Test
Glow Blocks: New Movement Modes
I just tested it and I'm really impressed.
After setting up the game patches, I browsed through the menus and I found many new and useful things:

- New Grid mode
- Better entrances/exits (two-tiles wide for pipes)
- Location ID0 water/lava/poison now coloured, and respects placement of sprite
- Zoom mode area now visible
- Same goes for SEC sprites
- Zoom slider
- Easy transition between game patches
- Fast level loading, just like in the original Reggie!
- Better description for selected sprites/objects/... in status bar
- Level Diagnostics Tool (perfect for Newbies)
- Completely rebuilt Area settings and Zone settings
- etc...

Very nice changes overall, and so many of them!!

The only problem I have is that R!N does not remember where I place the detached map window and that I have attached the entrance/exit window to the right side. Oh, and it also does not remember the game patch last used.

That's how I've set up the other Reggie! mods and wanted to do the same with R!N:

It reverts back to this view after restarting R!N (also reverts back to NSMBW game patch):

This picture shows how to set up the folders for the game patches to work:

I wanted to mention the same: Everything is frozen when starting R!N for the first time.

Mario50, there are unicode characters in your level path, the first Reggie had this bug too but then it was fixed, it would be nice if RoadRunnerWMC fixes this too.

Either rename everything in the path to your level file so it only has a till z and not some other characters like Chinese ones or wait for RoadRunner to fix it.

I don't know, maybe Reggie can't be in a unicode path too?

I'm making a game patch, and I have custom music, and I changed the names in music.txt. What do the numbers mean, and when I click for example, Graveyard is STRM_BGM_YUKI, how would it know which music to pick?

I found a bug:

In the dark version (by JasonP), all text is white. This is annoying when you change for example sprite settings, since you can't read the value (or words).

This is a problem while you:

- Set level information (who made it etc.)
- Set nybbles of sprites, entrances, paths
- Choose backgrounds
- Set zone settings
- Try to read the text in all of the palette menus
- Almost every other piece of text

EDIT:
Maybe you can explain to users why there are now three backgrounds which can be set (or copy Treeki's post about that).

You should give this a version number(I was thinking 3.9).

To get past that problem with the dark theme, you have to check the "nonstandard window style" and restart RN.

Edit:
To somerandomdude312: This isn't a version of Reggie Newer Sprites, but rather a new program. Since this is Beta release 1, the version number would be v0.1 beta, I believe.
