Recently, I've seen that in Reggie! Level Editor, there are 4 sprites used for the Gigantic Spiked Pillars. They are 398, 400, 401, and 404. When making a castle level. I was inspired by the small Spiked Pillar that shoots far out like a Gigantic Spiked Pillar in World 4's castle. When going to search for this sprite, I found that there was no specific sprite for this kind of Spiked Pillar.

So I looked at the sprite used in World 4-Castle, I found that it was the same sprite used for Gigantic Spike Pillars, with a different setting enabled. As you use these sprites, you notice a setting called Unknown Value 7. With sprite 398, which is the sprite that makes the Gigantic Spiked Pillar go right. There is a blank with sprite 398 that allows you to set a value to Unknown Value 7. Looking at sprite 398 in World 4-Castle, Unknown Value 7 was set to four. I made a level, got sprite 398, and set it to the same configuration. I was able to reproduce the same effect.

However, with the rest of the Gigantic Spiked Pillar sprites, Unknown Value 7 is just a check box. So, in a burst of confidence, I checked Unknown Value 7 on the left Gigantic Spiked Pillar and found out that this reproduces the same effect. It becomes a small Spiked Pillar shooting left with the same behavior as a Gigantic Spiked Pillar. This is also true with the Gigantic Spiked Pillar shooting up, and the Gigantic Spiked Pillar shooting down.

So, in a nutshell, Unknown Value 7 is a setting that decreases the Gigantic Spiked Pillar's size to that of a regular Spiked Pillar, with the same behavior. I hope this helped anyone trying to make a castle level. Thanks for reading.

Cool find, but you should space out that post. Noone likes reading compact blobs of text.
