FAQ

Riivolution is an on-the-fly game patcher for use with retail discs. It allows users to place content on their SD or USB devices, which will be read by the game during regular play.
Riivolution can be used for custom textures, music, levels, memory patches, game translations, and more.

I just wanted to say, that the SSBB template with Filepatchcodesupport won't work for PAL-Users because the path for PAL-Brawls is SD:/private/wii/app/RSBP/pf.

edit: Oh, you already fixed it, sry
edit2: ehhh, btw good job. Finally PAL-Users can also musichack their Brawl, really nice :D
Sorry for evantual bad english, I'm from Germany.

Sorry, I'll put it up on the wiki tomorrow. I'm really busy right now and just wanted to get it up with the test server tonight.

In the meantime, check it out!

Try a standard SD (non-SDHC) Card. I think I read in the Wiki that Riivolution has some issues with SDHC.

I think you quoted the wrong post.
And Riivolution doesn't have issues with SDHC. However, it won't be able to read an SDHC card unless you have IOS56, IOS60, IOS61, or IOS70 installed on your Wii.

I figured it was the game that had issues, MKW was locking up when I used an SDHC card. I didn't have a standard SD card, but I got myself one tonight and I'm gonna go ahead and try it right now

EDIT: Nope, still locks up. Perhaps someone can write me a step by step guide? I followed the instructions of "put .xml in SD:\Riivolution, put .szs patches in SD:\mkw, run" but it just seems to lock up, even if I use a standard SD card

Great job with this. The network support is really awesome. Nothing can compare to testing my NSMBW levels without even restarting the game!

Riivolution 1.02 is now out!

Plenty of network fixes, as well as the new file addition support for new NSMBWii tilesets or Guitar Hero songs.

Heh, yeah. I wasn't planning on doing them until someone from Newer really bugged me to, but I decided to get around to it sooner than I thought :)

What about games with only one big archive?

Riivolution doesn't works well in this cases: An example is Final Fantasy CB.

It's not so useful releasing your 2 GB mod :P, and in the worst case, you are forced to redistribuite copyrighted files (the whole archive).

Why not using Riivolution as an on-the fly file PATCHING system, instead of REPLACING files?

UPS patch format could be used to path files on the fly. The patching algorithm is really simple and should not slow down the patching process on the wii.

Here is the format specification http://www.romhacking.net/docs/392/
and this is the source code of tsukuyomi (the patcher made by byuu, who created the UPS format) http://byuu.org/files/tsukuyomi_v01.tar.bz2
