Super Mario Bros. Remix - World 5
|Return to the world of Super Mario Bros. (SMB) and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels (SMB:LL) in this level.|
Basically, this level merges 6 original levels into one level. It follows the setup below...
Area 1: World 5-1 SMB + World 5-1 SMB:LL
Area 2: World 5-2 SMB
Area 3: World 5-2 SMB:LL
Area 4: World 5-3 SMB + World 5-3 SMB:LL (part 1)
Area 5: World 5-3 SMB:LL (part 2)
While the level does attempt to be exactly like the original levels, there are quite a few differences, which does include enemy placements and bonus zone routes. Also, warp zones do not exist either.
The level uses a wintry setup, and adds some icy elements as well. Therefore, Penguin Suits are found in certain item blocks. Cooligans can also be found at times.
There are three bonus areas, with one of them being accessed, via, a vine. Two of the three have Star Coins in them.
World 5-1 SMB:LL does contain high winds at one spot in the original level. However, the wind isn't controlled by locations in this game, so instead of using the wind to jump large gaps, you jump on Koopa Paratroopas to advance.
The checkpoint flag is at the start of the World 5-2 SMB:LL part of the level.
Regarding World 5-3 SMB and World 5-3 SMB:LL, while those levels originally don't have a winter theme, I followed the flow with the other levels (World 5-1 SMB, World 5-1 SMB:LL, and World 5-2 SMB) by giving those levels a winter theme; for instance, the mushroom platforms are blue instead of orange. This also applies to World 5-2 SMB:LL, where the cavern has icy areas.
World 5-3 SMB is exactly like World 1-3 SMB, with the exception of the platforms being one tile shorter, and the addition of Bullet Bills spawning around as well.
The first part of World 5-3 SMB:LL utilizes the right path, wrong path system, but because you can't really make those kinds of levels, I had to improvise by using the special exit controller (sprite 179) for the wrong paths. Also, while the World 5-3 SMB part of the level doesn't use an auto-scroll feature, the auto-scroll feature will activate once you reach the World 5-3 SMB:LL portion of the level.
Once you've found the right path, you'll be at the second part of World 5-3 SMB:LL. From there, you just advance forward while dealing with incoming obstacles. The final Star Coin is also found there.
Bloopers do appear in the original World 5-3 SMB:LL, but because you can't jump on them in this game, they don't appear at all here.
The goal flagpole comes immediately after getting through the second part of World 5-3 SMB:LL.
Notice: World 5-4 SMB and World 5-4 SMB:LL are NOT part of this remix.
