Thanks to Treeki for the binary, and Tempus for the original. Never edited a tileset before but will play about with it this weekend ;)

Question that someone has probably asked already: How exactly do I MAKE tilesets? Do I like, make the image in some random program, import it into puzzle, set the properties, and so on? I ask mainly because I just got it and I have NO idea what I am doing................ :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

@Tempus- I'm running it on ubuntu but the image of the tileset does not show. Am I forgetting something?

Thank you in advance

Wait. It will save. It just takes a long time, especially if there is not much in the tileset.

Hmm I made my first terrain tileset yesterday and used the settings for the terrain of Pa1_nohara to set my terrain properties and such. However for some reason Puzzle lists the Cave Entrances in Pa1_nohara as Repeat Bottom. I thought this odd when I first saw it but thought if that's the setting then I should set mine that way. However, when testing my tileset in Reggie!, my Cave Entrances do just that... repeat the bottom tile only.

So not sure if it's a bug in Puzzle. I'm guessing the Cave Entrances should be Stretch Y, however again when I set my Cave Entrance to Stretch Y, move to another Object, and then go back to the Cave Entrance it changes the setting to Repeat Bottom. My Cave Entrances are 3 tiles high which is the requirement for Stretch Y. So I assume the bug is that Puzzle incorrectly detects the 3 tiles and moves the setting down one to Repeat Bottom.

Note: If you do set to Stretch Y and Save without moving back to the Object it will save the Cave Entrances correctly as Stretch Y I have found when testing. So the bug is upon revisiting the Object after setting the initial settings.

Hey Tempus,

can you make Puzzle into a dmg, and executable, I have SnowLeopard and cannot get qt4.6 anymore since Nokia only provides 4.8 which needs an update to xcode, which Apple only supplies if you have MtLion, which my Macbook doesn't support. Reggie works fine.

Are there going to be any more updates to Puzzle? I noticed on Github there haven't been any commits for 6 months, and that was probably 2 years old like the rest of them.

Okey, so puzzle is driving me bananas. Now I want to make my own tileset. I make the individual pictures I'm gonna use, one by one, in my favorite image editor, Photoshop. The pics are exactly 24x24 pixels each. I put it together in Paint, (simple to use) save it all as a PNG-file. Then, I import it in puzzle. Making the objects is easy as pie, just "puzzle" it. When that's done, I click Save. I save it as Tileset.arc. I choose: Fast compession, but the Image gets damaged.

Then...

NOTHING HAPPENS

you`re right . tempus might correct the bugs of the bad quality with images (I mean i saved a tileset as the fast compression and resaved with wart , i`ve always bad quality)

When you goto save the file IT EXPLAINS THIS TO YOU, always use slow compression for best quality and fast for testing .

On a mac, where do you have to place the puzzle.py file for the c c:/puzzle.py/ or whatever code in the terminal for it to work?

All of a sudden Puzzle isn't working right for me anymore. I restarted and even ran it straight from the source and it's not loading or saving tilesets correctly or something. I try to load Pa1_nohara and get errors up the ying-yang.

Code: Select all
  File "C:\Users\Jason\Documents\GitHub\Puzzle\puzzle.py", line 698, in paint
    p = index.model().data(index, QtCore.Qt.DecorationRole)
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'data'

that shows up a million times, and I get another error sometimes when attempting to open a tileset

Code: Select all
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "puzzle.py", line 2209, in openTileset
    noalpha = QtGui.QPixmap.fromImage(noalphadest)
UnboundLocalError: local variable 'noalphadest' referenced before assignment

puzzle.exe.log
just an example
(4.31 KiB) Downloaded 13 times

I hadn't used Puzzle much on this new laptop but I did use it with success before. Windows installed new updates recently. I wonder if one of them messed something up. :(
