Hacker in Training

Hi, I'm posting on behalf of my 6yo son, an aspiring hacker. He loves Mario level editors, so I downloaded Reggie, but we're puzzled about how to start it. Seems like we're in more complex territory here than in SMBX. I'm learning as his interests expand, but my computer knowledge is pretty basic. Thanks for any and all pointers.

you need to dump the stage folder and copy it in to the reggie folder
To dump the required files for Reggie! from your game disc, please use the Reggie! Dumper app.

Thanks foe the help! When I open it, I see boot.dol and meta. My computer tells me it doesn't know what program to use to open boot.dol, and I also get the Windows message saying it doesn't recognize the file type.

you run it from the homebrew channel on your wii with your mario game disk in the wii

Thanks--I'm going through the modmii process and am stumped on this step:

"Select the exploit you would like to use to mod your Wii."
Then choices including Super Smash Bros Brawl, but not SMB Wii, which is the game we have.

Also my husband is concerned about what effect this will have on our Wii--how it will be modified and if there's it chance it will cause problems with other games. My son, on the other hand, really wants to try a Wii level editor, so we'd like to do this with him if we can.

Nothing happens if you hack your wii, you only lose your warranty. What version is your Wii?

If they already have homebrew and riivolution they can just download another and hack those levels that would be the most easy.
