By the way, in order to improve this hack, can we all make an organized list of all buggy levels?

I have: 07-24, 02-03, 02-24.

I like these vids there funny and teach me what i need to fix in my levels, the levels i made that you played so far were 2-5 and 3-1 and i apoligize for your struggles on those levels. I do test them but the fact that im really good at playing the game makes me think its too easy without me thinking of the consideration for others. We are only human though but even alot of the other levels frustrated me.

Let's make an organised list of stolen levels.

I'll start.

He didn't put _any_ effort into most of the hack. The levels that were made for the hack are possible to be put together in 10 seconds, none were tested and half of the god damn hack crashes. Not to mention all of the stolen levels.

Wow... People, you really need to examine your standards of what makes a good hack.

For your consideration, a hypothetical situation. Let's say you buy a video game from the store. When you go to play the game, every other level crashes your console, the levels that DON'T crash are incomplete/unwinnable, and every single level is full of really obvious glitches. Would you say they did a good job, or would you be pissed?

I don't think there's a single person that wouldn't be pissed after wasting their money on such a heaping pile of dung. Would you say, "oh, but they tried their best!", or would you curse the person who would make such an abomination?

Now, obviously, no one is going to be paying money for COTBT. It's a free hack, and anyone can play it (with some work, mind you). But, I ask you this: Why would you be pissed if you paid for a game and it was shitty, but think its perfectly ok for a free game to be shitty? It just doesn't make sense to me.

I'd also like to point out, that if two conditions were met, I would not be as harsh.
If:
1) The hack was tested AT ALL.
2) The levels weren't stolen from other people (who actually DID work hard) and were credited to those who actually did the work.

So, in closing, here's a big middle finger to lameasses who steal other peoples work and try to pass it off as their own.

Replying to Metalkingboo:

Welp, there's a lot of issues with 2-5. The biggest problem is the sheer size of the zone. When you make a zone very tall (like, over 320), you run the risk of random things falling on your head from the sky. NO ONE likes to be killed by something that they had no chance of avoiding. If you're gonna make zones that tall, use at least zoom level 2, so that more is visible.

As far as 3-1... I have a hard time believing that anyone tested it. If you are better at the game than most people, then its a good idea to have a few people test your level before you put it out there for the public.

But, honestly, that's all the advice I'm gonna give you guys. Releasing an untested hack to get other people to do all the hard work of bugtesting your levels is seriously lame.

This is without a doubt the greatest hack of all time. I have never laughed at a "hack" so much in my entire life. I am loving the Newer's playthrough of it, you're good at lp-ing Antnee. Seriously, what were you bloody thinking when you made this, are you trying to troll us or just trying to make us laugh till we piss at this abomanation. What I find most histerical is the sheer fact how you made your hack look great and was insaulted when we didn't idolise it after you posted it. Sorry, but either ya try to make a proper hack or don't make a hack at all, otherwise you'll just make a fool out of yourself.
With love, VoiD.

Thanks for the advice, i joined the hack out of boredom. i made two other levels and one i know is going to piss you off becase its an underwater level full of....well this is just a warning. i did not know about the other levels till it was too late. The only thing i did was make the four levels (two of which im not sure what levels they are on) and the hammer bros textures (including the fire, ice, and sledge bros). Im a member of this hack and i definetly dont like how it turned out.

Antee, I feel like your shots at Islishe were uncalled for... They work hard at their levels and it's pretty obvious that they have some talent. In fact, I'm fairly surprised that Islishe hasn't joined the Newer team. Just saying...

Well, here's what I have to say about that.

There were a few levels of his that I liked, and if they were reviewed and edited before they were released, would be superb. That being said, 2-24. WTF? Unless the Toad Team did something to the arc to make it drop me into a lava pit IMMEDIATELY upon entering the level, I feel I was quite justified in taking any potshots.

A major problem with the levels submitted to the file depot is that they do not benefit from having a group of people criticize them before the public ever sees it. HOWEVER!!! 90% of the levels that I played in the stream were obviously not tested by any human being ever.

Also, I will admit that I am a bit bitter about hacks in general. Most everything I play that is custom either is far too long, screws you at every corner, can be broken by the simplest misstep, or just flat out sucks!

I feel like people don't pay enough attention to how Nintendo handles their level design... Guys, they do things the way they do for a reason. Theres a REASON there are no gigantic square zones in the retail game, for example. (skawo, feel free to prove me wrong here) The world would be a better place if everyone who was considering hacking NSMBW would just open up all the retail levels and look at them before they ever placed a single tile.

2-24 has the weird autoscroll looping stuff, and I'm assuming that this is what broke it.
