You know, I was just looking on Summer Sun LPs on youtube, strambleeblamblebeebam, out of curiosity, and it hits me: Why are there so many german Let's Plays of it?! More than english ones! Dem germans must really like us or something.

Perhaps we'll have to consider a german release of Newer.

The correct translation would be "Neue Super-Mario-Brüder Wii" (yes, hyphenated. We don't have chains of substantives, they must be either hyphenated or concatenated. I didn't invent this!). Or for Newer, "Neuere Super-Mario-Brüder Wii".

As for the great number of German walkthroughs &c.: I don't think there are more German fans than English/US-American. I guess it's just German "Gründlichkeit" (thoroughness). Many fans don't just play the game - they have to document it somehow. And the percentage of those seems to be higher than in other countries.

As for a German version of Newer: Some hacks have German in-game texts (the standard ones from New), others have not. So I guess Newer team would have to translate just the additional parts, while the rest can be used from the retail version?

By the way, I personally don't care whether Newer is English-only or not. I'd only be disappointed if you didn't release a PALv2 version at all.

Newer has been compatible with PALv2 for a while now. What we're missing is Japan v2, and whatever Asian versions there are (Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean.... am I right? Not quite sure about Chinese)

I have the files from the Taiwanese version, so I'll be able to do that one eventually- it's based off V2 btw -but I'm still missing JPv2, KR and CN if it exists.

I planned that for my hack.
All you have to do (I think) is modify the "Messages.arc", since there is all text used in the
game. But you don't have to translate the name, since it's called New Super Mario Bros Wii
here, too. I could do that, after Newer is released. I'm a professional German and
I hope I'm good enough in terms of English to translate a entire game. Also,
who would like to play something called "Neuere Super Mario-Brüder Wii", or
"Nouveau Super Mario Frères Wii"? Sounds weird to me. Personally,
I would like more playing a game called "Katamari Damachi" (heard it somewhere)
than some translated thingy (If I would only know the name, not the game itself).

Don't forget that Another is only playable on PALv2 discs with the workaround "hack" of deleting the <memory> lines. So I guess there are not many German players of Another (and a walkthrough would be missing 2-C, of course).

And the problem is, it's not the messages.arc that needs translating. That file is almost entirely unchanged. We have a separate messages file, though, and that not only needs translating, but proper formatting as well.

I quite think in french this would be called "Nouveaux Super Frères.Wii", but I'm agree this looks strange.

Also, I chose Latinum (Origin of a few languages) as second language,
since you can decide if you take Latinum or French. French looked hard
to me since you have these `, ´,^ over the letters.
