So I want to know when will the soundtrack come out and are some of the themes remixed or completely original?
Are there new worlds, like more than 9? Also are the worlds still in their same order? Grass, Desert, Snow, Beach, etc.?
Are the Koopalings in it or are they taken out and replaced by the Original Bosses?
Release Trailer when it comes out?
What is one of the new cutscenes?

The soundtrack will most likely come out when the game is out. You can get the track for the specials.
There are over 130 levels so probably more than 9. The worlds are different, I know one is a sewer world.
We don't know. The newer team are not giving us that many spoilers.
Probably a week before Newer is out
Probably a new intro
Re: Newer Discussion ThreadThat's not my department; it's not quite something I can answer.YoshiGo99 wrote:So I want to know when will the soundtrack come out and are some of the themes remixed or completely original?
No, they're all different.YoshiGo99 wrote:Are there new worlds, like more than 9? Also are the worlds still in their same order? Grass, Desert, Snow, Beach, etc.?
That's to be found out when the game is released... But there are new bosses!YoshiGo99 wrote:Are the Koopalings in it or are they taken out and replaced by the Original Bosses?
There will be one shortly before the game release. (Probably once we actually complete the game and begin fully testing it.)YoshiGo99 wrote:Release Trailer when it comes out?
Bowser kidnaps Peach. Yet again. (And a bunch of other stuff happens, but I'm not spoiling that :p)YoshiGo99 wrote:What is one of the new cutscenes?

Nope, 9 worlds it is. And the sewer world idea is a really outdated idea, there won't be a sewer world since it's quite a limiting idea.

Oh ok, well i'm sure there will be one or two levels based around it though.

Just because another Mario game is going to be released simillar to NSMBWii doesn't mean people will completly forget about Newer. If they hadn't forgotten us by now, I doubt they'd do so in the future before it's finally done.

Re: Newer Discussion ThreadI cannot guarantee that it will be - something may end up happening in the mean time that delays the game - but we will try our hardest to get it out before. The game is progressing very well but it's always hard to estimate times, and I'm not familiar with how some departments are coming along like music and cutscenes.rxmadjack wrote:Sorry if this has been asked already (been trying to go through 140 pages of the thread). Is the Newer Team concerned at all about releasing Newer before November when the Wii U will most likely launch with NSMBWU as a launch title? Just wondering if that is going to kill a lot of focus that would have been put on Newer. Hopefully its close enough to finished that Newer will be out before November?
No such thing exists. .bin is a generic file extension (it stands for "binary file") that pretty much just means... any format. In fact, Newer includes a few of its own (data for custom hacks, like info on level names and animated tiles) and they all use wildly different formats.mario64 wrote:Anyway, Newer is going to be really awesome, and I can't for NewerReggie! Are you going to release the extractor for .bin files?

Not to derail your question, but what was wrong with the backgrounds you messed around with?
Were they pixelated or something?
In addition to Jason's question, do you guys have an in-house background editing tool (the term "tool" being used loosely) that makes said process easier, or is it very much a trial and error situation? I'm really just wondering what state bg editing is at with you guys.

It's not the resolution problem, it's more of understanding which backgrounds to edit (256x256, 1024x640 etc) and what kind of seamless wrapping to worry about and what settings are best to place the custom backgrounds at (especially the 1024x640 2D ones).
These two backgrounds for example did not work as well as I'd hoped, for different reasons.![]()
The first, everything just looked massive. Even placing at 100% I had to set the Y offset. The I had the issue that I couldn't have it scroll as it's not seamless. Maybe for a small zone I could. But even if the grass tiled seamlessly the well we couldn't very well have 2 or more suns could we. Such is the issue with the second background. I could probably set it to be static... but that doesn't look very good in a large zone.
However, if I take the moon or sun out, it's very plain looking. I can't think of the word I'm looking for. It's an issue that comes down to the limitations of the edits I can make to the game. Apparently the 1024x640 backgrounds repeat not just on the X plane but Y as well, so at the very least I assume if you edit them either make them seamless both ways, or don't allow the background to scroll much vertically and don't place it in a tall zone... and vice versa with vertical backgrounds and levels etc and so on and so forth and that's all folks.
Any and all tips are graciously welcomed
