That's nice, have fun with models not displaying in 5-2, 2-4 and 8-C.

Ok, I need some help with getting this to work.

I installed everything as the readme instructed, and I was able to play the game fully. Then after a few weeks later, I start a new game, and 1-1 always crashes with "Disc read error".

I have tried deleting the files (SumSun, riivolution, and even another), and putting the files from the zip I downloaded into the SD card as instructed, and replaced the Riivolution app with the one I downloaded (Bear in mind, what I downloaded is what worked, I was just putting the files as they were downloaded). That doesn't work.

No matter what I do, 1-1 continues to crash with "Disc Read error" when it worked before. All this started after I downloaded the Super Mario Galaxy 2.5 demo. But even so, I deleted that. All files are back to where they are supposed to be since they are fresh from the zip files.

Can someone help me?

I would love to assist you, sir whose name refers to one of my favourite childhood games, but I’m afraid we have not seen that issue before.

Best practices:

Attempt 1) Backup and wipe SD card, format it as FAT32, redownload Summer Sun and follow the instructions from scratch all over again. It’s amazing how many issues are simply caused by forgetting or misplacing a file, or a badly formatted SD card.

Attempt 2) Remove and reinstall the Riivolution channel (if you are using the channel) or the same with the homebrew app.

Attempt 3) Serve the files via Riifs, and remove all SD cards and USB devices from your machine when you do. This will turn on console logging, which MIGHT print out error information in the Riifs console window during a crash (depending on the type of crash).

Lastly, I guess you could try cleaning the disc gently? It’s usually not the disc in cases like this, but it’s something to consider, I guess.

Thank you, Lolo games are my favorite childhood Games too, wish they'd make sequels.

Anyway, I tried reformatting the SD card to FAT32 like you said, that didn't work. I tried even using another SD card, a Nintendo Sandisk brand SD card 4 GB, that didn't work either.

Can you explain Attempt 3, I dont know how to do that.

EDIT: I was playing Another, because Summer wont run past 1-1...and everything runs smoothly, and I play through 3-1, then the game just crashes saying "Disc Read Error". Now, whenever I even try to play 3-1, it wont even let me in the level anymore, it crashes with the Disc read error. Then I tried another level...it works...then as I am midway, it crashes with Disc Read Error, when it DIDN"T do it just 15 minutes before when I went through World 2 without a problem.

I really have no idea whats going on...I clean the disc, my disc is from 2009's launch, and its not scratched like crazy, just a few small slight ones. This is really frustrating >.>

EDIT 2: Never mind...I played the game normally, without riivolution, and the game started to have disc read errors all over World 3...only a matter of time before other levels start freezing >.>. I am buying another disc.

Before you do, try another game without riivolution to ensure it's not the Wii's laser that's doing this.

Also, you can load ALL of the game through riivolution, and that removes the need for another disc. It just needs to boot.

Thank you.

Super Mario All-stars (Anniversary Disc) workedl, but I am going to try more games today.

How can you load all of the game through riivolution, I didn't see any option for that (Or does it do it already?). Also, is the Wii's laser part of the Disc Drive, or is it its own part?

SMAll-stars is about the worst thing you could pick to check, because it literally dumps itself into the RAM and works there. You could take the disc out, and the game would keep working.

Well, the way to do it is to simply take a full game's filesystem and load it. Riivolution will be forced to send every file from the SD card, and the files on the disc won't be touched.

Yeah, I figured, since it was just an SNES rom, and it wasn't really a test, I played it after NSMB because I wanted a mario adventure fix, I didn't try anything else because I was tired of messing with NSMB Wii so much.

Today I got to try more games, and play Kirby's Return to Dreamland, and that worked in any level I went to (I went to several worlds, and no disc errors). Also, I cleaned the Laser (I think), with my Wii Lens Cleaner (The odd disc shaped cleaner that was free at sometime when some users were having trouble with Smash bros back in 2008). I tried NSMB Wii even after cleaning, and I got the same disc errors, 3-1 wont let me play it anymore (My favorite level too, because of the penguin suit.)

I have come to the conclusion, my Wii is fine, along with the Disc drive/laser, its just my NSMB Wii disc has gone bad it seems. This kind of thing happened with my Mario Kart Wii Disc, the intro would freeze with disc read errors. I took it to my rental store that has a really nice CD buffer that deals with scratches. That was the WORST thing I did. When I got home after buffing it, the Disc read errors were UP the skyscaper...I couldn't even get past the main menu screen lol.

This is the 2nd time I have had to get a replacement disc...it bites.

Anyway, thank you guys for helping me, I appreciate you helping a newbie on the forum, lol.
