Guide to Replace NSMBW Music

Guide to Replace NSMBW Music

Postby JasonP27 on Thu Jun 21, 2012 1:46 pm

viewtopic.php?f=20&t=53 - This link will tell you which files are which songs

You can only replace those songs at the moment... you can't add more than the original number of songs

Download
BCSM
http://www.mediafire.com/?cbj7iirqa33
BRSAR Patcher NSMB
http://www.mediafire.com/?72ai82k79jyzgtx

How to use

  1. Extract all content within .RAR into a new folder titled BCSM or whatever you please.
  2. Open the exe
  3. Click "add +"
  4. choose which audio file to convert to .BRSTM
  5. There will be a new window once audio file is selected. Then you click on the small tab on the top right and click to convert to .BRSTM (NOTE: you can select within the window if you want your file to loop or not).
  6. Sit and wait for it to convert. Play some Wii/Ps3/360.
  7. Once converted it will go into your "Library" folder within the BCSM folder. Find it and use the list below and rename your file exact to the file you would like to replace.
  8. You need to patch your BRSAR file so the music loops properly.

    Image

    • Select the in-game music track you'll be replacing (eg 'Athletic'), then click the music file icon to select the music file you'll be using to replace this track.
    • Click the save icon (floppy disc) to save the new data to your BSRAR file.

Yeah... works excellent. It works fine. There's an online mp3 converter so if you have like a .wav file you can convert into mp3 and convert into brstm. The .wav into .brstm didn't really work... :)

The BRSAR (wii_mj2d_sound.brsar) goes into the Disc:\Sound folder. The music is stored in the Disc:\Sound\stream folder.

You can alternatively use BrawlBox to create your .brstm files. Anyway, I gave this guide a test by replacing the castle BGM, and it worked.

I tryed it, but brawlbox doesn't work to convert the wav in brstm, I prefer use brstm converter.

It does work, but only with the 16 bit PCM .wav files. You can use tools like Audacity to manipulate the audio files at will.

I don't use this software. You should google BRSTM converter and download that one because it lets you choose where you loop.

I'm okay though, since a huge portion of my BRSTMs were created with BrawlBox. It all comes down to good ears for setting up the loops correctly.

Dang It!
So, if you can`t add more songs and soundtracks, than the original game, you have to replace original soundtracks?
So, I need one song, for all final dungeons on NSABW.

Im replacing a song with Castle music. Do I need to replace Castle-Fast too?

Where do I put those files so they are playable ingame?

The output file I got is a .brstm file. Did I do antything wrong?

How to know when enemies do a little "dance" when they hear the "bah" sound?

I tried to replace the beach sogn with a custom song from brawlcustommusic.com. The problem is that when the custom song finishes, it doesn't loop, it just silences. And yes, I checked. The custom song IS looped.

I've just personally started doing all this stuff with the music, and trying to loop it. Apparently as far as I've read online you must loop the sample at a point that is a multiple of 14336. Even so when I've done this some of my songs loop and some suddenly cut off and don't loop. I have no idea what the issue is. :(

Is that why my music randomly stops?

So little time... :)
Song looping: Songs that Nintendo doesn't use as 'level music' (those that are triggered by sprites) won't loop correctly, regardless of patching. I have more than 20 songs for my new level that loop correctly, but a few won't, for example Bowser/Mega Bowser, Epilogue, and others. Also, the translations for some level names from the Japanese ones are inconsistent between BCSM GUI, Brawl Box, BRSTM Patcher, Skawo's translation and this webpage that I always used. I usually listen to the BRSTM in BCSM GUI's library to be sure about what song it really is if in doubt.

Gasp....

It's really strange musics are perfectly looped (I found these in hacks like Newer), and music downloaded from the net and renamed with BrawlBox won't loop.

Thanks very much in advance if someone can explain me that.
