The Curse of Black Toad: v1 Release!

Re: The Curse of Black Toad: v1 Release!

There were a few levels of his that I liked, and if they were reviewed and edited before they were released, would be superb. That being said, 2-24. WTF? Unless the Toad Team did something to the arc to make it drop me into a lava pit IMMEDIATELY upon entering the level, I feel I was quite justified in taking any potshots.

Hello??

Also, Treek pointed out the autoscrolling stuff in 2-24 is probably the cause. So, islishe, I dunno whether its a good level or not, but you definitely should be pissed that someone stole your level and used it in a way that made it seem like crap.

Edit: I did enjoy 3-24, just found it to be too long.
I make levels, tilesets, and sweet sweet love for Newer. I also leave your breath smelling minty fresh!

Just... HORRIBLE!
These are only SOME problems:
- Worst level design I have ever seen (and the good levels are all stolen by the Depot)
- Crappy world maps, a 4yearsold child with a 3d modeler could do it too
- STOLE STUFF FROM THE DEPOT WITHOUT CREDIT!
Just :? :? :?
Hi! I am HammerBroTime and I'm a level designer and a tileset creator :)

I admit that I stole levels. I credit the designers for their hard work. The "stolen" levels were just a cover because we were not ready to release the game.

In fact, here is the story of why the hack sucks:

It was a bright sunny day 2 weeks before the release, when I realized something. I was doomed. There was no way I could finish the hack in time! But long before that, I swore not to delay the release, because of how pissed I was when Newer did that. So, I "stole" levels to fill all the level slots, and made "crappy" world maps.

THIS IS NOT THE FULL GAME, AND YOU HAVE NOT SEEN WHAT WE CAN DO.

This release was just, you know, "let's just throw together whatever we have in an excuse to make the release date."

YES THE GAME WILL BE HEAVILY IMPROVED, DEBUGGED, TESTED, ETC.

By the way, here is a special letter to all those whom I "stole" levels from:

Dear amazing level designers, I hope you understand why I used your levels. I actually took my favorite ones, in case that means anything. None of your levels which I took will be included in the full release, just so you know. And, for being such good sports about it, I will put all of you in the credits. Thanks!

And this teaches us a valuable life lesson: Don't promise something you can't live up to. Don't make a release date if you're not 100000% sure you can make it till then to do all that you wanted, otherwise you just make a fool out of yourself.

From what Newer and The Curse (that's what I call it) tells us, do not set a release date for the game until you are absoulutely and 1000000000000000000% sure you are going to finish the game and make the release date. Otherwise, you will be criticized by A LOT of people.

Yeah, learned our lesson there.

But to make a point, meeting an artificial deadline just for the sake of meeting a deadline will inevitably produce bad results.

I'm the admin at mariomods.com. I've learned a lot about this hack and will be revising the information posted on mariomods and giving credit where it is due.

White Toad, it's better to scrap a deadline to improve something than turn the modding community against you by stealing their creations.

I looked at the guide last night. I would like to see one, just ONE decent looking map made with this method.

I just realised that some of my levels were used in the hack. I'm not annoyed for this, but, at least, use them in a good way.
I can ensure you that my level used at 02-24 works fine, but as Treeki said, the cause of the lava falling at the beggining is that 02-24 is hardcoded. Please don't use my level there and place it at 05-24.
So you guys, creators of this hack, should do some testing before releasing a hack.

Ah yes, thank you. I have no intention of using any depot levels in the final release. By the way, what happened to piranha plant cave?

I deleted the level, just because I'm going to upload it to my big pack.

So it's better to release something that's totally crap, with stolen levels, than delay it, work on it, and actually make it playable?
